Integrative, Multisensory, Perception, Action and Cognition Team

On 1/01/2011, Unit U864 has joined the new CRNL (Centre de Recherche en Neuroscience de Lyon),(INSERM-CNRS-Lyon1, Dir. O. Bertrand) as the ImpAct team headed by Denis Pélisson

We are a research unit affiliated with INSERM (U1028), with CNRS (UMR 5292), and with Claude Bernard University, Lyon 1, and the Lyon Hospitals. Our unit is member of the Handicap Federation Institute (IFRH25).

Les représentations de l'espace sont éléborées à partir d'informations sensorielles multiples qui doivent être intégrées. La vision, le toucher, la proprioception et le vestibule contribuent de façon primordiale à ces intégration inter-sensorielles. A partir de ces représentations spatiales, notre système nerveux peut générer des commandes motrices appropriées qui permettent de modifier la relation entre notre corps et l'environnement, ou bien d'agir sur l'environnement. Ces commandes motrices concernent le bras et la main, la marche et la posture, mais aussi les mouvements du regard. Notre unité s'attache à étudier la dimension dynamique de ces processus sensori-moteurs: la flexibilité, l'adaptation et la récupération à long terme après lésion cérébrale.

The scientific project of our Unit aims at identifying the spatial and motor representations that underlies the awareness of the body location and the capacity to act on the world. Our efforts are directed towards understanding the pathophysiology of the neurological deficits related to perception, internal representation, and action functions, aiming at the development of neurological rehabilitation techniques.
