Action effect anticipation: Neurophysiological basis and functional consequences
Voluntary actions are thought to be selected with respect to their intended goal. I report data suggesting that during action selection, the brain pre-activities the representation of the predicted action effect. I also demonstrate that this pre-activation account provides a mechanism to understand the perceptual consequences of action effect anticipation, such as sensory attenuation and intentional binding.
